The March of the Mahi Mahi

Its spring time in the sunshine state, and that means weed lines. Beautiful rifts of Sargasso weed blossom all over the deep open gather near the current edge, form long and defined orange/ gold lines. Baitfish flock to these weed lines in search of shelter. As in good time, so do the mahi mahi. Millions…

Summertime is Near

As the days get longer and the mid day warmth becomes a blanketing and stagnant heat, you know that summer time is just around the corner. Spring winds slow to a slugs pace helping water temperatures heat up with the rising air temps, and in result bringing in the fish. Schools of hungry amberjack and migrating mahi mahi appear in the masses,…

The Change in the Seasons

As cold fronts rear to a standing halt, and the wind blows out of a different direction everyday, a change in the seas becomes so ever apparent. Mud clouds in the water stretch out into deep oceanic abyss, traveling 20-25 miles out with visibility in the water of only 5-10 feet at best. Fish are seemingly gone…

WAHOOOOOOOOO!!!

As the winter season begins its full force trot through cold fronts, blustery north winds, rainy squalls and cool short days, a vibrancy of fish begin to show their faces in an inspired type fashion. Anchoring up in blue water is the key to good bottom fishing. So with the consistent north winds making the…

Red Snapper Season is Back!

With the winds finally calming down for a few days, we managed to sneak out offshore for the red snapper mini season. The bite was outstanding. As soon as a bait reached the bottom there was a fish on. Non-stop action from other fish as well, including a good amount of red grouper, goliath grouper, triggerfish,…

Sweet Summer Heat

As the summer crowds of tourists flock to the beaches of Florida, so do the fish. Baitfish, Atlantic Menhaden, gather by the hundreds of thousands along the calm shallow waters off the space coast. Making for an easy access to a one of a kind select bait of choice for pelagic gamefish. Cold bottom water moves in this time of…

Nonstop bottom fishing

Went bottom fishing most of the day. Nice, warm and sunny day, with 2-3 ft seas and 72 deg aqua blue water. Bottom bite was nonstop!! Caught our limit of large vermillion snapper, nice trigger fish, lots of red snapper that we took pictures and released. Also caught some lane snapper and had 3 grouper…

Fishing still hot!!!! in August

Water is crystal clear.. Hardly any current. Great, nonstop bottom bite. Still some sailfish around. King Mackerel’s on all the large reefs. Cobia on all wrecks that have lots of schooling baits. My favorite eating fish, grey trigger, chewing good. Mangrove snapper spawning and we’re able to chum them up to boat. All in all,…
