Many looking to fufill their dreams of landing the big one come to Florida to do so. People from all over the world travel to our beautiful clean waters in search of a big grouper of a huge mahi mahi. Well now, in the month of may is the time to do so. With just about everything in season, excluding the ‘endangered’ red snapper, everything caught in the month of May can be kept. Not to mention that everything is about to spawn over the summer months and are very hungry. Schools of rudderjacks and amberjacks molest our local reefs and wrecks eating everything in sight. Cobia move out to the deep water to find baitfish and cooler water. Triggerfish and snapper attack almost anything dropped to the bottom as mating season is just around the corner. Grouper season is now in, making for a great cooler filler and a hard fight as well. Croakers, vermillion snapper and globs of northern mackeral and squid combos have been the ticket for these slobs of the bottom, hitting baits anywhere from 60ft to 300ft. Here is a round of of some of our best catches halfway through the month of May.
