As the summer time heat comes into full play, its sticky and hot out on the water. But don’t let that scare you hungry anglers from coming out and enjoying some of the best bottom fishing in the entire year. Warm water temps in the mid 80s suffocate the inshore wrecks and reefs, which pushes the fish of all sorts up and down the water column on these bottom structures. Snappers are exploring to the surface and hitting flat line baits, while amberjacks are as active on the surface as a school of mullet would be inshore. Eating baits out of your hand and pretty much anything you drop down. Limits are coming easy along with great abundances of random catches. Mahi Mahi’s on the flatline, swimming up in schools, groups of hungry, exploratory cobia coming up to the boat on the hunt for food. Summertime wreck fishing is in full swing.
