21 Jan 06 What a day !!! Started out at the weather buoy and hooked a nice mahi. I knew one would be hanging out there; real nice fish. We then did some bottom fishing and caught snapper and a cobia. We also landed a monster snook, well over 36″, great fighter !! Beautiful day, sunny and warm, seas less then 4ft.
14 Feb 06 Happy Valentine’s Day !!
Took my good friend Joe and his buddies on an all day bottom fishing extravaganza. Started off at some of my favorite bottom spots and the bite was on. Caught nice keeper Snapper and Grouper. Also pulled in some triggers and plenty of black sea bass. Hooked a monster fish that we could never turn on a Penn 6/0 reel with drag set tight. Had to be well over 200 lbs. Ran the line out for several minutes before he broke off. Probably a large nurse shark. Great day with a box load full of fish. Sure tasted good (nothing better) that night. What a great life fishing; I’m truely blessed… Capt Art
15 Feb 06 Snapper and Grouper are chewing good!!! Started off in the inlet getting pogies (fish candy). Took us awhile to find the large schools but when we finally did we pulled in close to a hundred on one throw. We then proceeded to the 21 fathom line where the bite was hot and heavy all day. We caught nice snapper, gag/red/scamp/ and black grouper. We also caught black sea bass and trigger fish (best eating fish). Action packed day!! Beautiful day with winds out of the NE 10-15mph, seas 4ft, partly cloudy skies, temp in the comfortable 70’s. Great fishing adventure!!
15 Feb 06 FEEDBACK Art – I just wanted to take a minute to send you a note to thank you for the most outstanding day of fishing I have ever had. It was a dream come true for me. If I died today I would die allot happier than if I didn’t go out fishing with you. My wife, even though she was sick for most of it, really appreciated you taking the extra time to make sure that she was able to land a fish when she felt better. It was an unbelievable day for all of us. We really appreciated all of the effort Captain Scott put in. His expertise and patience with us in teaching us was more than we could have hoped for. He is worth every penny. Being able to come home and go to your website and already see our pictures up in your gallery on pages 19 and 20 was quite a rush! I’ve sent everyone the pics and recommended they look nowhere else if they want to go fishing, you’re the man to see. I told a friend who is coming down next week to make sure and look you up. He’s an avid fisherman up here but I told him you would show him the time of his life. I also want to let you know that we are talking about making a trip to Florida a yearly event if not every other year. I think back on last week and try to remember what all we did and the only thing that I think about is the day we spent fishing with you. Thanks for memories that will last a lifetime (or at least until the next time we come down and go fishing with you) and for a freezer full of fantastic tasting fish. I always wanted to say I once caught a fish this big, but now I am not a liar thanks to you. Again thanks for all that you did, keep doing it the way you do it because you and Scott made us feel like we were really being taken care of by the best. I don’t know what else I can say but thanks again. Wayne
17 Feb 06 FEEDBACK Art:
Just a note to say thanks for your help this past Friday. The Burton Family had a really great experience. You did a great Job. You have a great boat and you make a great Presentation. I have sent you a copy of the Certificate (Microsoft WORKS) that I give to every family after the scattering. I got the picture of the boat from your web site.
Again Thanks, and God Bless
19 Mar 06 Cobia, Cobia, Cobia!!!! This is cobia month. I’ve been so busy I haven’t had time to do any updates to the web site. Our water temp 1-3 mi offshore is 70 deg. This is the perfect temp for cobia. They will be off our shores in the masses another month or so until the temp increases and then they’ll move north on there northerly migratory route. You site fish for cobia. Usually start around 10 or 11 when the sun is high in the sky and you look for these behemoths at the surface in groups or individually. They also tag along manta rays and always near weed or any floatsam/jetsam. So you look for anything out of the ordinary on the surface and especially rays jumping out of the water. On this charter we were bottom fishing and hooked a 60 lb plus monster who sucked-up a pogy about 1/2 way down. We hooked it in the side and took us 45 min to boat it. Awesome fish !!!!
23 Mar 06 Took David Biller and friends King fishing on Pelican Flats. Nonstop action!! Kings’s were all fired up. Limited-out in a few hours. Also hit a bottom spot on the way back in and caught a 24lb Red Drum, a nice Red Sapper, and some Sea Bass. Great day; awesome summer weather is here.
28 Mar 06 Manta Rays-100’s !!! Went east approx 22 mi and fished a rip with an awesome line of sargassum weed. Manta’s everwhere with cobia’s beneath most. Limited out in a few hours. Unbelievable day, didn’t want to leave. Manta’s were huge..Beautiful cloudless day, light winds, temp in the low 80’s. What an adventure…Capt Art FishKing
5 Apr 06 FEEDBACK Capt. Art. Wanted to drop you a note to say THANK YOU for a great time yesterday! I admit, I was a little skeptical in the morning taking so much time trying to find bait but, you guys were right, once we had bait, we had fish. Catching our limit of fourteen Kings in less than one hour is truly amazing, and still having time to catch a Cobia and a nice triple tale. And that is just what we were able to get in the boat not counting the hook ups and the ones that got away or as JC said “the ones that live to get off!” What a day! Everyone had a blast. The Cobia is in the refrigerator and freezer, the King is on the smoker, and the triple tail is almost ready for the oven. I also wanted to complement you on your choice of mates. JC was unbelievable! I know he was dancing around when the Kings started hitting but he didn’t miss a step. And helping us put the triple tail on the dinner table was remarkable. I am in the process of putting another trip together with some other friends of mine. Once I have a few available dates from them I will forward the dates to you so we can work out the trip. My wife has given you business card to another individual that was questioning us about the trip and if they or anybody ask me I will definitely tell them how great you, your mate and your boat are to fish with. Happy adventures and I will talk with you again! Thanks Gary
5 May 06 Sorry that’s its been so long for an update but we’ve been fishing nonstop. Just got through with the cobia run (awesome) and now its time for Mahi Mahi and Yellowfin. The last of the cold fronts have come our way and the great summer weather is now upon us (calm seas, blue skies and clear water). Mahi are showing up in larger numbers each day and the sargassum weed is starting to form up (the weed is one of our primary locators for mahi).
The next three months will be some of the best fishing here on the treasure coast. I’m now preparing the boat for a tuna trip to the “other side” but the weather looks if’eeee (north winds) I have lots of pics to add to the gallery and will update as soon as I get time. So what are you waiting for; your fishing adventure awaits !!!!! Capt Art
11 May 06 FEEDBACK Art,
Great tuna trip, the boat rode great through the stream, and the tuna bite was unreal. There is nothing like getting one of those brutes into the boat and sushing one up with the guys on the way to the next pack of birds. We were real happy with your persistence and J.C. was a great mate. The water on the “otherside” is truly one of God’s great creations. Can’t wait to get out there again !!!! GOT WASABi !!!!
23 May 06 Sorry its been so long since my last report but we’ve been fishing almost every day and I haven’t had time to do any updates. Fishing has been simply awesome !!! I have about 30 pics to add to the gallery and when I get some time I’ll post them. We’ve been doing well trolling and bottom fishing. Yesterday we caught 5 mahi, 3 nice red snapper, scamp and gag grouper, amberjack, and our limit of porgies; phenomenal day. Most days have been extremely productive and will for some time. Weather is also Florida’s best this time of year. So when your ready to drop a line and fill the fish box don’t hestitate to call….Capt Art
12 Jun 06 Well I finally added about 50 pics to the gallery; check out the last 4-5 pages. That’s a sampling of what we’ve been catching lately. The bite is on, top and bottom, and will be for some time. Tuna has been an awesome fishery on the “other side” and will only get better as the summer progresses. We’ve been fishing every good weather day and get very little time to come up for air; loving every minute of it !!!! Blue water, tight lines, tasty fish—it doesn’t get any better..FishKing
16 Jun 06 FEEDBACK Captain Art, We chartered through you on May 28th and had a wonderful time. Your ‘Secret Spot’ out in the Gulf Stream where we bottom fished was a hit. We’ll have to start out there next time! Attached is a picture for your website. We’re looking forward to doing it again in a few months.
18 Jul 06 – Just added pic to the gallery (check out last pages). Been to busy to do fishing reports; “great fishing” !!!
19 Sep 06 – Sorry its been so long since the last update but we’ve been busy catching lots of fish. In the last month or so we’ve routinely located large schools of mahi mahi. Its still a little early for their southerly migration but we’ve been locating them on floatsam/weed lines close to the edge of the stream. Once they are located we start chumming to keep them close to the boat. Some schools stay around the boat for hours and quite a few nice fish get hooked-up. They are a exceptional fighting fish who’s acrobatic leaps and aerial displays are simply spell bounding. We’ve also been doing exceptional with cobia. They usually pop-up mysteriously out of nowwhere and in close proximety to the boat. We then scramble to throw squid tipped jigs and work them methodically to entice the bight. Once hooked-up the fight of your life is on. They are a powerful fish with most fights lasting from 30-60 min. Later in the day when the water is warm we’ve also been catching them slow trolling on the downrigger. King Fish bite has been great as usual and most days we catch our limit along with sharks, barricuda and bonito (non-stop action). I’ve recently made a couple tuna trips to the “other side” and we’ve done very well with yellowfin, blackfin and skipjack tuna; awesome trips!!! As the water starts to cool the bottom bite will turn-on and blackfin tuna will start showing up in good numbers around the shrimp boats. JC and I have also made a few dives and have been catching good numbers of lobster. The other day I dove and found a bag someone left behind with 5 nice size lobster (alive)on the bottom close to the ledge; thanks!! All in all, fishing and diving has been at its best. JC and I are having the time of our life. So come on and join us and we’re sure to have quite the adventure. See you soon….Capt Art
